Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Dr. Nassif's thoughts on non-surgical rhinoplasty:

"I have recently had some patients ask me about non surgical rhinoplasty done with fillers.  While filler and injections are a good temporary fix for a post op irregularities like dents, but I don’t like them for a formal rhinoplasty. The injections can cause some irregularities. However, it maybe ok for an over-resected hump where you need to add more of the hump back."

"For more complicated cases like Open Roof Deformities or Inverted V deformities the patient will need to have a revision surgery."

Doc,

I beg to differ with your analysis a bit because I am 19 years old and I was look at various options of Rhinoplasty and I came across the non-surgical method and it most appropriate. The reasons why I believe the non-surgical way benefitted me was because from the age of 16 til now, my face structure looks totally different so my nose was never too big or too small. What age do you feel that women should get a nose job so that it will have a more natural look? I've seen my friends my high school now and there noses are either too big or too small for their face after getting permanent nose jobs.....

I have performed rhinoplasty procedures on patients at the age of 15 or older, but it depends on if the patient has finished growing.  In general, many of the younger patients have a deviated septum and they also desire to have a hump reduced or some mild tip work. If they have realistic expectations and are not expected to go through any major growth spurts; than they are fine candidates.

The only reason why injectables may be good is to build up a dorsum for a test.  It can cause soft tissue irregularities and infections, which I recently have seen in patients.  That is why I am not a fan of these procedures as an alternative to rhinoplasty.
